It's always a good sign when you get asked to photograph by someone who has already seen my work and loves it. I can't help but have a Charlie Sheen moment and feel like I'm 'winning' before we even begin. That feeling amplified the moment I met Joel. I completely fell in love.
In fact when I look through these memories I can't help but get a wee bit emotional. I am really proud of these photographs. Like, really really mega proud. :)
Joel's session was one of the first times I turned the whole thing into one big massive game. Every single one of the photographs were a reaction to part of the game we played together and it came with one of the best rewards I've ever received at the end of the shoot.
Gorgeous Lauren.
I love that this sequence of 6 shots is a mixture of me asking some silly questions and Joel's reaction of talking through his shyness. And then I was rewarded with a winner of a smile at the end ;)
When we did this session we had been hit with really great weather so Lauren and her son were heading on to a BBQ. Joel thought I was coming too and thought that we would be able to continue our 'game' there. I explained that I had to leave but I wished him loads of fun for the rest of his afternoon. It resulted in one of the best hugs I have ever received, along with a hasty kiss on my cheek and a whispered 'I'm going to miss you!', before we parted ways and I watched two people I had met as strangers only an hour or so before walk away, with the biggest and bestest smile on my face. Ever.
Thank you for everything. xo
