Happy Valentines!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not really a big fan of Valentines Day. I know, I know it's ridiculously ironic considering I photograph romance in all it's forms. Maybe it's because I don't believe in singling one day out of the year to give a big gesture of love. To me, you shouldn't need a date in the diary to do it. Or..... it's maybe because I usually find myself single for Valentines and that's reason enough for it to suck.

Who knows. Anyway. A few days ago I was on my facebook and saw that someone was claiming that the most depressing day of the year was approaching. My first thought was, didn't we just have the most depressing day of the year in January? Is there another coming up??!!  Then it hit me they were talking about valentines day!

And that's when I decided to take a stand. I should NOT be agreeing with that thought and be putting it out there. Nope. I should find a way for 14th Feb to be a happy day. So I put up a facebook message on Sunday morning.

Needless to say that yesterday morning I went to the postbox with more than 5 things to be posted. And I loved EVERY SECOND OF IT! The thought of someone waking up or coming home to a wee giggle in their letterbox gave me such a ridiculous smile on my face that you'd have thought I'd just been proposed to by Ryan Reynolds. I had put the good vibes out into the world and I was happy.

This morning I was woken up from a lovely deep sleep by my twin when she came bursting into my bedroom (must remember to take the house key back off her). She shouted out a Happy Valentines and declared she had a present for me. I peeked one eye open and when I saw that there wasn't a Ryan Reynolds/George Clooney/ Sam Worthington shaped man standing behind her so I went back to sleep. Instead she just shouted louder, proclaimed that I had to wake up and then she gave me this...

I'm a chocolate nut so it got me out of bed fairly quickly :)

My second surprise came about half an hour later when I decided to check the post. Lo and behold I got two 'valentines'

One proclaimed it was from my secret admirer but I can tell the writing a mile off and knew it was from my lovely friend Cara in Manchester. In fact I knew simply from the writing on the envelope and it was enough to put me into a fit of the giggles! The second I did not expect but a lovely friend from my facebook page saw what I was doing and decided to surprise me with one of my own postcards with a message of sisterhood and happy cheer :)

All have made my day and given me another reminder that what you put out there the universe gives you back in return, so make it count.

Happy Valentines Day!!
