I've met these two I think officially 5 times? And last weekend we shot their engagement session, fitted in nicely before Gemma heads off to Washington for some conferences! (Nicely done Gemma!!)
Luckily a few days before their session, the weather was dry so I definitely wanted to head to the Reservoir in Donaghadee, because it's just lovely this time of year when the leaves are turning, although I warned them beforehand that it would be muddy! So, they arrived raring to go and our first stop was at the Rugby club. Kirsty (twin sis) had spotted a tyre swing there towards the back of the field when she was driving past a few months back with her boyfriend and after double checking with my rugby playing friend that it would be okay for us to do so, we headed there first to break the ice. I had so much fun with the two of them there, that even if it's just to break the ice with couples during an engagement session, I definitely intend to use that location again!
Next we headed to the Resrvoir and that was where I showed my true clumsy self. The setting was perfect, Gemma and Gary were relaxing under a tree with low lying branches, so I was shooting away and when that set up was over, I stood up and I got a whiff of dog poo... Kirsty then said the fateful words, 'Carly you've sat in mud!' which would have been very easily done considering the place was covered in mud, however on closer inspection, she then started to laugh and said, 'I don't think that's mud!!' It was extremely funny (although slightly mortifying!) but I can now happily say, I'll do anything to get a shot =)
Before Dog Poo - Kirsty cam
After Dog Poo - Kirsty cam - I had to put my big coat back on again!
After that Gary and Gemma invited me to their new house to share some sandwiches and hot chocolate (and when it comes to home made hot chocolate I think Gemma's is the best, especially with her special ingredient!) perfect for warming back up with, although some people have said I was already warm enough considering I refused to take off my coat due to the dog poo incident lol!! =)
I had so much fun that day and I should be finished editing the photos by tomorrow so I can't wait for you to see them! Gary is good fun, and he took some of my teasing that day (plus he's a big fan of the Band of Brothers series, and anyone who thinks that is pretty darn cool with me!) and Gemma - what can I say about those eyes of hers! Absolutely stunning. I enjoyed meeting Gemma's brother and sister and I definitely look forward to the 29th December - a brilliant way to celebrate Christmas and the New Year!! Can't wait =) xo
