Ross and Caroline

I've known Ross since my first day of school when I was 5 years old. He has always lived a two minute walk from my house and most of my childhood memories involve him along with my other childhood friends. Sadly Donaghadee isn't the biggest place to begin budding careers so Ross (along with a lot of my other childhood friends) found himself over in England, working and living away from home.

Now there is a reason why I love holiday's so much (summer, Christmas etc) and it's because a lot of my old friends come back to the old seaside town they grew up in to visit home. So it was a big surprise to see Ross last week when I went to his families home to photograph his sisters engagement session. I spoke to him briefly, and then as I was leaving he walked me out the door and we stood there and quickly caught up on a few months worth of updates and news.  It was as I was leaving he said, 'Keep a night free next week, I'm organising a meal for everyone!' Now, instead of going, 'Ooo, how come?' I simply said that that was a lovely idea and I'd keep him posted.

One week later and I get a text simply saying 'Just to let you know, I've asked Caroline to marry me and she said yes!' That meal he has asked about? Yup, that was a celebration meal he wanted to organise with all the friends to celebrate!!!

Now Ross always said he would never get married, and Caroline always said she wouldn't know when it would happen, and sure enough, she had no idea!! Which was why I demanded we had to take some pictures whilst we were together for the celebratory meal, and why I found myself on the pier last night and taking pictures of my two old friends who are madly in love (and newly engaged) to each other.

I love a good love story, especially ones that involve surprises! =)

Congratulations you two! And I'll repeat what you heard a lot of last night, 'It's about time!'

Thank you for the giggles, and I'll maybe have to use the technique that you used Caroline to make Ross laugh if I need it in the future but until then I'll keep it between us three! What happened on the pier, stays on the pier ;) xox
