A Special Thank You

There are certain memories from 2010 I will never ever forget but one that stands out was Clare and Neil's wedding day. Not only was Clare going to have the honor of becoming a Rodgers girl (with a D - and no relation to me by the way) they were also an absolute PLEASURE to photograph and begin my 2010 wedding season with...

Their wedding also gave me my first experience of riding in a helicopter. If you know me well you will know that when it comes to flying I am the biggest chicken on the planet (I have even been known to refuse to get on a flight and cancel a trip due to it being a very stormy day!). I'm not going to lie, I did begin pacing up and down waiting for it to arrive (only a select few of us knew of the big helicopter surprise!) and certain wedding guests did remark that I looked a little green whilst waiting for lift off. But when I was up there flying from Donaghadee to the Galgorm Manor in Balymena, I couldn't quite believe my luck that I was experiencing something so unbelievably magical and to see my own home town and the place I have lived all my life from the skies.

Yes my palms were unbelievably sweaty and yes, I did do a wee inner cheer to myself when we landed safetly on the grounds of the Galgorm... And from what it looks like in this next photo probably gave the pilot a hug...

But the memory of getting off that helicopter and thinking 'Wow I'm the luckiest girl on the planet' will never be forgotten. So much so that this next picture is now framed and pride of place in the Rodgers household, goofy grin and all.

I was deeply saddened to hear that the person who made it all happen sadly passed away on the 31st December 2010. Tommy, you were an absolute pleasure to meet and although I only met you that one day you gave me one of the best gifts of my life. All my love and thoughts are with Clare and Neil, his wife and children and all of the Rodgers family at this time. xox
