Yesterday my mum and dad celebrated their 38th Wedding Anniversary. 38 years! Wow I can't quite believe it. In their 38 years they gave birth two four gorgeous girls and are grandparents to two more girls. There's definitely a girl gene in our family I reckon ;)
So I thought I'd post an oldie photo, but a goodie taken (i think) before Kirsty and I were born. I'll be the first to say my mum and dad can have their moments and their arguments can shake the house but when I ask my mum why she married my dad, she says very simply, 'He was my best friend.' And I love that. My dad may look like he's not the most romantic person on the planet, but this is the man who will buy two anniversary cards at once because he liked the messages in both and couldn't decide between the two. Love you both.
I've been thinking about love a lot lately. I will be the first to say I love hearing how people meet and connect. It amazes me that people have been able to find a person who they love more than any other and to take a risk to spend the rest of their lives together. When I ask, how did you first meet - I love the smile that creeps across the face in recognition of a moment that began it all. It's a magic moment.
My three sisters are all married. I look at them and I admire them all greatly. I look at them and I know that they have 'it'. The connection. The spark. No matter what they've all uniquely been through in their lives, it's still visible and still survives. Isn't that amazing?
Should you now go down memory lane and remember the guy who embarrassed himself just to get you to notice him, or the girl who unwittingly captured your attention from across a room, and you went for it. You took the leap, and you now call them yours. Should that memory bring butterflies to your tummy or a goofy smile across your face, may that feeling make your Thursday wherever you are.
P.S I came across this photo on my computer a few minutes ago. Who said light features can't come in handy for self takes ;)
